SATURN 2014
I started very late for
Saturn this year because of Jupiter and Mars. Unfortunately, I missed
this year's opposition! These images are north up and were taken by my C14 mounted on an AP900GTO mount with a Skyris 132M camera. Chroma Technology LRGB filters were used to make the color image. For info on Saturn's belts and zones please click this link. You can also see my past images of Saturn at the ALPO Japan Kansai Branch site.

2014 Seeing was a little better this evening. To get the RGB image, I had to derotate 10 RGB series. I did a little harder processing in these image to bring out the low contrast details. These may just be artifacts though. The Polar Hexagon is distinct even in the RGB image. There seems to be some low contrast ovals on the NTZ but these may be artifacts. The belt just south of the NPR looks purple.

2014 Seeing was excellent this evening. Nothing really out of the ordinary on these images. The Polar Hexagon is well resolved. The belts and zones are distinct. No prominent ovals or dark spots here. The Encke minima can be see at the edge of the ring. There is a hint of the crepe ring.

2014 A very late start for Saturn this year.. Seeing was unstable. Unfortunately, Saturn is very south for me this year. It only rises to a maximum of 63 deg in my location. The Polar Hexagon is still prominent especially in the IR image. The band and zone are well resolved. There are no prominent spots in these images.
